So little time.

So many times I find myself apologizing on here for not updating. WELL. I've been drawing comics, but I don't think they've been good enough, especially as I've been trying to get enough together to do my first print run... And as most probably know (and from what I've learnt through deadlines) there's NEVER enough time! I'm a stickler for quality in my own work, and I'm pulling my finger out now that I've finished my christmas shopping - I've got new pens and Board, and I'm going to re-draw my thought bubble pages ready for printing! wish me luck! I'll be doing a huge post in the new year! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!! xxxx

My Labors of Love

Yes, I know I disappeared again, and what with all the promise of comics from thought bubble (don't fret! they're still being drawn!) I thought I'd just post some photos of what's been sucking my time from me recently - I wanted to share the awesome! I was asked by one of the school houses I work in to create a couple of photo backgrounds for the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Themed Formal...
So... this one took me 25 hours over a week (as well as working full time) This was hung above the year 11's table - and may possibly be bought by the photographer (fingers crossed I could do with some cash!)
This one took me 33 hours over a week. OH MY GOD it was a bit of an epic task. also consider that I was only giver poster paint. (POSTER PAINT!?!) to use and that I also had to create the canvas myself by nailing a huge bit of fabric to a board and then prime it... I haven't included those hours... If you can't tell what it is, it's our own design on the edible room in Willy Wonka's factory!
And the sweetie tree! I didn't make this, but I stuck all the quality street to it!? lol. I just thought that it looked lovely :) The kids bought me a massive bouquet of floweres to say thank you and I had a blast! So yes, I am alive and more photos/comics will be coming soon!

Thought Bubble one.

Oh yeah, that's right. I went to Thoughtbubble. And I draw comics, I thought I'd start a mini from that weekend! Here's my first page.

Oh yeah, and I met SO many cool people, and bought SO many comics and got SO very drunk.

It's really sad, but it was rather a big deal for me.

Oh my god I was on such a comedown when I started work yesterday.

WELL.

I've started work after a week off, and a most wonderful time with my Wardie-Shaped-Person. I'm exhaused, I'm not sleeping and I've got a hundred and one things to do... BUT:

My table is booked (no23!) for The London Comic and Small Press Expo in March (I'm terrified!)

and

I was just searching the website when I came across this - I have to say, it may have been a while ago, but this made my day.

I'm working on designs for a Christmas Formal and I've been drawing pages for 'Chill Out' - as well as coming up with some sort of cover design... I may post some of those things too

I'm tempted to do some mini comissions... any interest? I'm totally broke.

Emotional Hunger.

I'm so rubbish.

Well. I managed to update the blog. But did I do a comic? NOOOOOOOOO. (More apologies) I'm starting work again in 10 mins too... *sigh* I'm shattered. But I have been working on something. I'll eventually get the preview of that done. And I WILL goddammit draw some auto-bio comics to put on this lovely less-cluttered blog.

I changed the name, I'm worried that none of you know I'm here anymore!?

Vampy McVampiness

See! I DID re-do my blog! I've de-cluttered, and changed the name (introducingmissnash.blogspot.com) This is so I can start promoting myself and keeps the whole thing slightly more uniformed. Promotional cards next me thinks?

Also, does anyone know the cost of photocopies? I'm trying to work out how to print my comics and I'm thinking of doing two different comics in batches of 100 (as I don't know how optimistic to be) I'm also making a set of three badges and a postcard selection... I'll be TRYING to set up a paypay thing on here too!

If you have ANY advice PLEASE email me at:

miss_nash@live.com

I'll REALLY appreciate it, and if you leave an address I may send you a thank you card in the post

Hope all is well. I've got a BUSY work day.

lots of love, April xxx

Promises, Promises

Right. I know I've been AWFUL at updating this blog - all I can say is that work is keeping me super busy - what with my actual duties, and then being roped into drawing everything and anything for staff and students (I'm kinda running a design commitee of 16 year-olds for a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory themed social!) I'm just innandated with projects (I've left uni now!? what's that about!?) Small notices:

1.) I got a 2:1 for my degree! (that very good)

2.) I'm planning on updating this blog - I need a change!

3.) I'm going to TRY and get some comics/products finished!

4.) I've run out of money and I'm trying to book a table for my first London Convention next March

5.) I'm trying to (but always putting off) doing my teacher training application

6.) I got an email from Lucy Knisley after I purchased 'Salvaged Parts' and asked her if she'd take a look... She was SO nice and gave me some really good constructive critisim!

(AHHHH!)

7.) Did I mention that I got a 2:1!?

Anyway, thanks for holding out - I'll try and get this overhaul done soon, and then FINALLY kick myself into doing some work!

see you soon

Mine's called Jeffory

The Everyday

As a few of you will know, Adam Cadwell finished his auto-bio webcomic 'The everyday' and asked readers to submit their own idea of how it would end... This was my submission... :D I'll admit I did rip off a film... but I couldn't resist drawing little Adam as a zombie!

frustration!

I was going to upload pictures of all my projects, but I can't find my damnned lead for my camera - two days before I've got to go hand everything in!!!!!! - gonna have to figure a way to fix this... I think though (once I've had my coffee this morning) that I'll finish on time and STILL get sleep... (which would be nice)

Final Push.

So yeah. I'm on my last week before my hand-in. The insomnia has already started, and I cannot commit myself to comics at the present time. I'll go nuts if I give myself extra work to do - I'll post the kids book once it's done - you have that to look forward to! Until then, think encouraging thoughts - and prepare yourself for an awesome FESTIVAL COMIC that I'll be drawing once I'm finished - trust me, It's gonna be good!

until then....

ARGGGGGGGRRRRRG! DEADLINE!

Still Play.

Yeah, so this is a quicky inbetween spreads for the children's book I'm drawing at the minute - And I'm being honest - I'm not enjoying. I prefer something a little more challenging... anyway, if you saw a month or so ago, I've started playing around with a Mallory Towers/Ghostbusters kind of thing... it's slowly forming in my head... more like supernatural now, but regional, and with more 'your mum jokes' I dunno, Got a couple of characters in mind... got a couple of stories in mind. And I really enjoy drawing ghoulies... how random is that?! anyway, thanks for sticking with me... only a week left, then i'm FREE! :D lots of comics to be drawn on my days off I think! xxx

4/5 days?

Alright. It's not even been a whole week, but I've realized how much I enjoy posting things online, the regular routine, and venting through drawing really makes me happy. Random no? I was away this weekend and I've had an induction today for my new job in a boarding school that'll start in september. It was good, but for some reason I've had a bit of an energy crash and now I'm too tired to finish drawing up my comics for the last few days at the moment.

I'm just letting you know that I've got three weeks left until my deadline, and 2 and a half projects to finish. So however much I love my auto-bio comics at the moment, I've got to really get my priorities in the right order. So I won't be posting much of my face for a while. I'll catch up in August, and I'm thinking of doing an Adam Cadwell and doing a special edition comic based on my festival experience at the Big Chill.

But my other confession is that I won't be able to continue my auto-bio stuff next year, or at least while I'm working this job. I'm not allowed to bring the school, or any of the staff or students into that context. I have to keep my private life private for a while. I've also not had a proper job for three years while I've been studying, so I also know that my energy will be DRAINED for the first few weeks. Plus, alot of internet sites are banned - so I'll only be able to post and check up on things while I'm on my odd weekends off or on my holidays.

Again with my priorities. grr.

BUT. I am planning on working on my own original comic over the year while I can't post things regularly. So hopefully, when I've finished I'll be ready and raring to start publising and promoting my own work and my face again.

:( It's not a goodbye. It's a 'I've got to do this or I'm not gonna be able to get into the career that I want to do' for a few weeks, and about next year? I'm not going to disappear, I'm just not going to be about as much. It annoys me slightly, because I'm just starting to feel that I'm might be getting somewhere, or at least the confidence to pursue this area of my work. I'm sure I'll be drawing, but unfortunatly, life is getting in the way abit.
